Why the John Deere 4066R is a Favorite for Hay, Loader Work, and Livestock Operations
7/11/2026
The John Deere 4066R is one of the largest compact tractors on the market. This workhorse is a top choice for farmers working on hay work, loader tasks, and livestock operations. With plenty of horsepower, strong hydraulics, and impressive maneuverability, it delivers performance well above its weight class.
The John Deere 4066R packs 65 horsepower and sufficient power for demanding tasks on the farm. Heavy-lifting jobs like hay handling and loader work are no trouble for the 4066R. With eHydro or PowrReverser transmission, the quick and responsive controls are ideal for handling hay bales or livestock supplies.
If you’re frequently working on heavy loader work–moving bales, cleaning pens, or transporting feed–hydraulic strength is non-negotiable. The 4066R offers hydraulic flow to operate heavier implements without any hiccups. With a 2,500-lb lift capacity, a standard hay bale is no match for this compact tractor.
A 73-in. wheelbase and 3,770-lb frame weight ensure that the 4066R is compact enough to fit in most barns or garages while remaining stable during tough tasks and on varied terrain.
Working livestock operations often means long hours in the driver’s seat. With an optional cab offering air conditioning and heat as well as other ergonomic features like a high-backed seat and adjustable steering wheel, the 4066R is fit for those long work days.
John Deere’s reliability is unmatched. With robust builds and industry-leading dealer support, a John Deere compact tractor will earn–and keep–your trust. The 4066R’s turbocharged engine, durable transmission, and more result in a low-maintenance and long-lived machine that will last you years to come.
